El Convento or Ritz Carlton Pre Cruise Stay

We just booked two days pre-cruise at the El Convento hotel, it seemed more authentic. Has anyone stayed here? Is there late check out? (Cruise ship does not leave until 10pm). I called hotel and they cannot tell me until we get there. We have two young kids (3 and 5). The reviews all seem to be good. We were not sure to book this hotel or the Ritz. Anyone stayed there?
