Rio Hotel, Intercontinental Rio

We are scheduled for a HAL, Rotterdam cruise on Mar. 4, 2007. We are arriving in Rio on Mar 1. Hal had originally told us that we would stay three nights at the Sheraton but just told us today that we would be staying at the Intercontinental Rio. Has anyone had experience with that hotel and what are your thoughts about it. Any recommendations?

I think HAL is doing a huge favour to you. The Sheraton is on the beach but way down one end and overlooked by the favela's (slums). I would not feel very safe staying at that hotel.

 

We always try and stay at an Intercontinental Hotel and if the high standard is the same as elsewhere you will have a great stay. It is a 5 star hotel and the only drawback I can see is that it is not on the beach.
