Room Question

Hi there!

We had booked an AC mini-suite guarantee on the Diamond Princess for Feb. 3rd. We found out today that we were assigned to room D112, which is exactly an AC mini-suite. My question is, what is this room like? How close to the front is it? Has anybody stayed in this room and what can you tell me about it?

Thanks for all your help.

It is a typical mini-suite at the very front, 3rd back, of the ship on the port side. Take a look here http://www.princess.com/ships/di/deck/di_dolphin_index.html.

Thank you for your response. I had already checked the deck plans. What I am looking for is an answer from people who have stayed in that mini-suite or near it. I am curious about the motion that close to the front of the ship.

Shelley,

We were booked in that very minisuite on the Diamond last May with our 2 DDs in the inside across the hall. 20 minutes before we flew to Anchorage, we got a call and got bumped up to the family suite (D104), which is 2 cabins forward, the very front. The movement of the ship was fine--never felt rocking more than normal. I have a great tendency to get seasick and had all my remedies with me, but only had to take bonine once on the trip, mainly as a precaution. Of course, in Alaska, in the Inside Passage, we were blessed with very little in the way of rough seas. It might be different heading down to Mexico.

If you end up in that cabin and if Sandie is still the room steward in that section, you will find yourself spoiled rotten. He was the absolute best! My DDs still rave about the trip and his service....and that's from teenagers. Of course, I am sure it had nothing to do with him leaving them extra, and I do mean EXTRA, chocolates! :D :) :D

Happy Cruising!

Hi Shelly, We just got off our cruise and where in the very front of the ship in the family suite. It was a great suite but we could not use our balcony due to the high winds and rough seas as there was not a wind break at the front of the ship. You should have a wind break as you are at least a few rooms down from the front. You will hear a bit more of the waves hiting the sides of the ship if it happens to be rough seas in fact we have joked about it sounding like bombs or the ship was running over little boats! yikes! its really wasnt too bad. Didnt really get too much rocking through not as bad as the back of the boat got which was good! About the only other thing that I can think of was you get lots of excercise running from dining to your room! which again can be a good thing :D but for getting off the boat it was very nice as you where right there! just drop down and go out the plank! very easy and also easy access for the theater & casino!

Have fun! We where on the Dalphin deck as well.
