Aft cabins vs. balcony at hump

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this has been discussed before, so excuse me for asking again. I'm booked in a hump cabin 9580 on the Brilliance for a Med. Cruise and am wondering if I should change to an aft cabin (there are some available). My concerns are noise and rocking or movement.

Thanks!

Donna

When we did our first Brilliance cruise, we stayed in cabin 9582 and absolutely loved it. We heard no noise and felt very little motion. Most people seem to agree that there is less movement at the center of the ship as opposed to the front or back.

Did I mention we loved #9582? So much so, that we stayed in exactly the same cabin on this year's Caribbean cruise!

We have stayed in both Aft and hump rooms, and I would agree that the hump is a great location. There is very little rocking and very little noise. I love both location and would take either in a heart beat, but we did have more motion in the aft and there was more noise. In our case on Enchantment we were above the theater/night club area and the band played until about 2am everynight (oye)...we also sailed in an aft cabin on Carnival and had a lot of deck chair noise at night when they were cleaning the lido deck. We sleep pretty heavily so it was not a huge issue for us, but it was evident. We stayed in 1554 on Brillance (on the hump) and loved it. It was so convinet to everything, never heard any noise, very little motion. I agree for what you are looking for the hump room is your best option.

We had 9256 on the Brilliance in March and couldn't think of a better cabin (unless it was an aft suite of course). It was a Cat. D

and couldn't have been happier. I'd like to attach a pic but the file is too large. Email me and and send if you like.

P.S. HI Johathan!! We were with you guys on the Brilliance in March!

Besides having a balcony about 15 x 14 (no kidding) I did not like the aft location. Too far from everything. Used the staff stairs once which are right next to the cabin but on second try were told not to. I really didn't get the love of the aft. I'd rather see the port from a hump balcony.

Well, thanks to everyone who replied. I've decided to stay with the hump cabin. JHC, my friends are in 9582. I'll tell them you loved that cabin! I'm in 9580, but after looking at the diagram, wonder if I should change to 9584, if it's available. It's a little more straight on, or does 9580 have more/less room? Anyone know?

Stretch I'll email you for that picture if I can find out how to do that. LIbertybelle and Cruzinpsycharnp, thanks for your input. It helped in my decision.

We are booked in 9584 on the Serenade. We chose this cabin because it is on the hump and it is in a great location. We are going thur the Panama Canal and I think this will be a great location to see what is going on and not having to stand on deck and vie for the railing.

We choose the hump cabins mainly because of their locations right near the elevators, and generally easy to get to places on other decks, i.e. casino, Windjammer, pool etc. that we go to frequently.
