Deep Sea Fishing ???

The one thing you need to consider on chartering a boat in Mexico is that you charter the whole boat. Here is an example: Let's say the boat "El Gato" charters for $500 a day for 4 people. You pay the $500 and bring with you 2-3 other people. They do not put the trips together for you. You have to bring the people you want to split the charter fee with.

One way to gewt around this is to see if the cruise ship offers a fishing expedition and they will put a party together. However, I was booked for fishing gamefish through RCL Viion of the Seas in Mazatlan several years ago and they cancelled the trip one week before departure. I don't know if they offer such a trip anymore.

If it was me, I would fish either Cabo or Mazatlan. In Cabo though you need to remember that you get there at 10:30 a.m.

I don't have any specific boats to recommend but there is plenty of info available on line. Use http://www.google.com or http://www.dogpile.com which searched google, yahoo and a couple of other search engines at one time.

Look for a "fishing calendar" which shows what is generally caught at a particular time of year.

We are going on the Vision of the Seas in mid March. We are interested in deep sea fishing for sailfish and swordfish. Does anyone have any recommendations of which port to go out of, and what company to book through? We will be in Cabo, Mazatlan, and PV.

In Mazatlan (they claim is still the capital of the billfishing in the world) try King Fish Fleet which is in walking distance of cruise ship docks. You can get a 42 ft. cruiser for $250 usd for up to 8 hours of fishing for 5 fisherman. You can book in advance on there new web site if it is working yet. http://www.kingfishfleet.com or E-mail for info at reservations@kingfishfleet.com

Have Fun & good Luck MazatlanMike
