Golf (not through ship)???

We are visiting Casa De Campo for the first time. We would like to play golf there but the ship doesn't offer it. Has anyone played? I have heard of "Teeth of the Dog" but the website says you can only book tee-times if you are a hotel guest. Has anyone played this or any of the other courses? How far from the the cruise docks are the golf courses? Any trouble getting taxis? Looking for any experience, advice, comments in general. Thanks.
