Southampton to London City Airport

Hi,

we will arrive from a transatlantic cruise on SILVER SHADOW in Southampton and have a flight from London City Airport (LCY). The cruise line offers only transfers to Heathrow and Gatwick, but not to LCY. Any ideas of an affordable transfer to LCY? Thanks very much.

Can you manage public transport with your luggage?

 

If so, it's not too bad:-

1. Cab to Southampton Central station
2. Train to Waterloo
3. Tube (Jubilee Line) to Canning Town
4. DLR to London City Airport

I believe that both Waterloo (Jubilee Line) and Canning Town Tube stations are "accessible", so that should make it easier to manage the luggage. The change at Canning Town is simplicity itself - you literally just go up one level to the platform directly above.

Sounds like three to four hours of hell to me,but affordable was the word used.

Such a shame after experiencing wonderful service and relaxation on the Silver Shadow.A car transfer would finish the vacation off nicely.

It's certainly not the easiest transfer in the world by public transport, but you did say "affordable".

 

Otherwise, you're looking for the usual suspects, for whom there are lots of recommendations on these boards, at the usual prices.
