Does anyone know if Verizon works in Aruba. I have heard about renting a cell phone and that would be a better way to go. Anyone ever rented one and if so how much does it cost and where do you get them. Thanks for any help :)

Before you leave if you call *611 it will update your phone. (For verizon) I got online and it will tell you the cost per minute. In Aruba it can be as high as 2.49 a minute. It also will list how to call out if you need to dial 0 first, or just area code and number. Each island is different. go to Verizon.com and everything is there that you need..

Thanks for your response,I think I might be better off trying to find a cell phone in Auba. I am sure it would be less expensive. If anyone has info on a cell phone to rent in Aruba I would love to hear about it :)

Otherwise, International calling from Aruba (incoming & outgoing) on Verizon Wireless will cost $1.29/minute with no additional daily or monthly charges. Prior to leaving the US, dial *611 from your cell phone & they will add international calling to your phone plan. You will then hang up & dial *228 to reprogram your phone to make & accept international calls. You must do this BEFORE you leave. The re-programming must be done from your home calling area.
