Are you talking about the Captains VIP Party or the Latitudes Party? If it's the Captains VIP Party it is only for those in a penthouse or above. Drinks are served at both the Captains party and the Latitudes party.

The Captain's Cocktail Party is not only for Penthouse suite and above as I always get an inside cabin and this comming cruise I'll be invite as a Gold level Latitudes past guest program.

I'm only telling you what is was like on our cruise. The Captain's VIP Cocktail Party that we were invited to was for suite pax only. It's certainly entirely possible that there was another one for Latitudes members, but it was our first NCL cruise, so I wouldn't know.

Jean-Michel is correct. I have only had one suite and have been invited to the last 5 Captains parties on three different ships. Once you hit GOLD level you are a VIP passenger.

 

There will be a Latitudes party for all returning guests. We had so many past guests on the Dawn 11 day that they actually had to hold 2 seperate Latitudes parties.

Sometimes others are invited to the Captain's VIP party as well. On our recent Star cruise, we sat next to a lovely couple who told us they were in an inside cabin on Deck 5, were only Latitudes bronze level, and had no idea why they had been invited. The only thing they could think of was that they had been having trouble with a noise in their cabin and had complained nicely to the front desk. So, who knows!

I'm sorry, I completely forgot about the Gold and Platinum Latitudes members being invited to the Captains VIP Party. I do remember that this was the case on our January cruise on the Jewel.
