Help in San Diego

We are leaving Mon on a quickie, Monarch of the Seas, to SoCal. Could someone please tell us if it would be better to take the ship excursion to Wild Animal Park Safari for $53 adult/$44 child or to go on our own in a taxi and with AAA discounts? I guess what I really want to know is how much a taxi might cost between the pier and the park. Thanks.

It's 35 miles to the Animal Park. Taxies are $2+ to get in and $2+ per mile. $70+ to go each way by Taxi. You would be better off renting a car if you want to go on your own.

 

If you go on your own you are responsible to make sure you are back aboard in time to sail. If you go with the tour they will wait for the tour.

Thanks for the info, KL. It seems it will cost about $91 total for the transportation through the ship for 4 of us and approximately $140 if we take a cab. Guess we will take the ship's excursion on this one.

Ship's excursion is the best. Even if you were to rent a car for the day, you will end paying more: car rental, gasoline, mileage, admissions to the park.
