I know the hair dryer has been mentioned several times but I am wondering about a curling iron, do we check the wattage to make sure it's under 800 watts or is it different? This board is amazing and with so much info what a great help. Thank you in advance.

No, you won't have a problem but my biggest tip for your stateroom, any stateroom on any ship, is to bring a surge protector or regular multi outlet plug. Most only have 2 plugs by the vanity and with all the battery chargers, laptops, curling irons, etc. extra outlets are needed.

I'm going on the Spirit so thanks for the replies. Don't they charge alot to use your laptop? I've been trying to decide to bring mine or not, I don't need it for work but thought I could keep in touch with home etc.

I used mine only for storing my photos. Internet connections on board are not cheap. I wound up purchasing a package on board to use the ship's Internet cafe to keep in touch with those at home. It's not inexpensive but it's cheaper and more reliable than using the phone. If you're going to the islands you may get a signal on your cell phone, and when you do, you may be hit with roaming charges, which will rack up $$$$$.

I too bring my laptop for downloading pics etc. Ships that do have internet plans, most of them you can only get service in certain public areas and the connection is very slow. You can also just purchase a small plan and use the internet cafe if it's important. Or, some ports have little internet shops for a couple bucks an hour.
