Just off the Grandeur and did this tour. It was wonderful!

You meet for your tour on the pier and are escorted to a small mini bus (10 person taxi) for about a 10 minute ride to the north side of the island. *This was on a Sunday so no traffic and pretty quiet all over.

A bit leery when the bus dropped us at a small opening between two condo buildings just in the process of being built. Walk down the path (accompanied by RCCL staff) to a beach. Before long, two boats pulled up - small 'launches' that you just climbed up on and took a set for a 15 minute boat ride to the island.

It is surrounded by a coral reef that is in water that is only about 4 feet deep. A shack built on the island has a few picnic tables, a restroom, a changing room, open bar all day with cocktails, beer, pop, water. Lunch served was delicious. A green salad, potato and macaroni salads, island barbeque chicken and fresh fish (Wahoo I believe) that was steamed in tin foil with herbs and spices.......the best fish I have ever had!!

Very easy to drift and snorkel over the reef and there were an abundance of small fish, coral, star fish, conch and one group saw what they thought was a barracuda - did not see it myself.

Beach was white powdery sand with loungers scattered around. Staff will dig and place an umbrella wherever you want it.

It was like going back in time to spend a wonderful beach day.

Bring lots and lots of sunscreen and relax and enjoy. Our favorite excursion of this trip.

jtmalt,

There is a shack that is built on the beach (where they cook, bar is set up, restroom is)and there are several picnic tables that are in the shade. There are some trees on the back hill but depending on the time of day, they don't offer much shade. The umbrella's truly do a great job and you can get two if you need them. The gentlemen that work there will dig and place them where you want them.

The bar is completely shaded and at least three of the picnic tables are shaded for lunch. Two others are out in the sun - with umbrella's over them.

It was truly a beach break!
