Car Rental in Las Palmas/Canary Islands

How far is the airport from Puerto de la Luz where our ship is docked? Hertz has an office at the airport. It would be nice to drive around the island at our leisure, but I am concerned that we may use too much of our day trying to pick up and drop off the car at the airport and then return to the ship. Any advice?

The airport is more toward the middle of the island quite a way from the port, you would be better & cheaper picking up a car in the port which is very cose to town .e-mail me if you need more info .Margaret

Any of the major rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Sixt) will arrange to meet you at the port with your car.

 

Also try the local Canary Island rental car company (CICAR). They are very good and much less expensive.

I believe the Canary Islands offer some of the best rates for Car Rental in the whole of Europe so it can be a very economical way of getting around

Thanks, everyone for the recommendations. I will follow up with each of these companies. We have always used Hertz (Gold #1 members, etc.), and I was discouraged that they were located at the airport. That would be fabulous if they will meet us at the port with the car. Can we return the car at the port also? I have emailed CICAR also, and I am awaiting their response.
