taxi to the pier

We live in NYC about 15 blocks away from the pier. A cab ride from Grand Central shouldn 't cost more than $12 if that much. The fare is not based on the number of passengers but the metered ride.

Have the driver drop you off across the street from the pier and you can bring your luggage across yourself.

There is usually a long line to discharge passengers and the fare can really mount up.

 

When you get back, it's much quicker to go across the street again to get a cab. We live here and do the same.
