J@L Cruise Posted April 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2007  Why did RCI change the departure times on the AOS southern trip. The times at port can be short enough.I was looking forward to staying at Aruba until 1:00 AM. How does that effect the rest of the trip? Any info would be great if anyone knows. Thanks

Other than the casinos and one or two clubs, most everythng is closed.
MsWitty1 Posted April 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2007 I would think they change the time due to constraints or changes at the port. Maybe they wanted the ship out earlier.
Ocean Boy Posted April 2, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2007 When we sailed Adventure I, too, was looking forward to the 1AM departure from Aruba so we could spend more time in port. We spent both morning and afternoon experiencing other areas of the island figuring that we would do the town at night. So after dinner we leave the ship to go walk around for awhile and it turns out that most everything, except the casino and some bars, were closed. Other than walk around there was nothing to do and not a shop was open. We ended up going to bed before the ship even sailed. And that is the first time that I have ever been asleep for either an arrival or departure from any port. An 8PM departure would have been fine with me. At least all of the usual evening activity would have been going on aboard ship. And maybe an above poster is right they might want the ship out earlier. When we were returning to the ship in the evening we chatted with the security people at the entrance to the pier area and they were complaining that after a very long day they get home very late at night and don't get to see their families. Or maybe RCI wants to get the on board casino and shops open to bring in income. We can all speculate as to the reason for the change but none of us knows for sure.
