lizgrl76 Posted August 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2004 My fiance and I are planning to take our first cruise on the Caribbean Princess next summer, July 2005. We want a room with a balcony but have seen that certain balconies are completely visible while others are covered. Any suggestions on which rooms or floors have the more private balconies? Also, are all the balconies the same size or are some larger than others? We love the idea of being able to have dinner on the balcony :) Thanks! sue d. miller Posted August 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2004 In my opinion, the best balconys are the BB's on the aft. The balcony is deeper than the other BB's, and are private!! Others are on the caribe deck.
HighRoller Posted August 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2004 I second that as well....the AFT BB cat are the best with oversized balconies and great views!
lizgrl76 Posted August 5, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted August 5, 2004 Thank you both for your advice! Do you find rooms on the aft of the ship experience more motion or noise from the engines?
HighRoller Posted August 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2004 Only movement is from the propellers and trusters when leaving port otherwise...smooth sailing!
bdjam Posted August 5, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2004 I’d do Caribe balconies…they are half covered, half uncovered and are larger than the standard Aloha/Baja balconies. You do have a certain amount of privacy, yet you can also get out from under the cover if you’d like. The Caribe balconies seem to be the favorites and have been most recommended to me. I booked one on Star Princess but was upgraded to a Mini-suite. I didn’t mind the open balcony – and found that if you opened the veranda doors, you got plenty of fresh air and the sitting area of the suite could double for a private area. Aft balconies are great, but if you are in busy seas, you will encounter more motion than if you were mid-ship. The structural peculiarities of Caribbean Princess - with Skywalkers suspended above - add to this motion. There are also a limited number of these balconies so you have to be quick to get them. sue d. miller Posted August 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2004 If you have more than a little movement, like a gentle rocking motion, you would feel it on every part of the ship!!!
HighRoller Posted August 5, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 5, 2004 As I said I have stayed twice in Caribe 750 a full suite and Caribe 753 a BB right next to the full suites and little to none in terms of movement as Sue mentionned...in fact it's worth it as it is "Prime Real Estate" back there!...hope you get one and enjoy the views! monk888 Posted August 5, 2004 #9 Share Posted August 5, 2004 lizgrl76, If you click on the link below, you will see some shots taken from the Riviera Deck on the Caribbean Princess showing how the balconies are terraced. Lido (15), Riviera (14), Aloha (12) and Baja (11) are fully covered while Caribe (10) and Dolphin (9) are exposed. bushwhacker Posted August 5, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 5, 2004 "Caribe (10) and Dolphin (9) are exposed." Dolphin balcony is exposed, but what you see is only half of Caribe balcony as the other half is covered. Caribe balconies are twice the size of the others. :)
JKStar Posted August 5, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 5, 2004 We were in a mini-suite on the Emerald deck, E731. The balcony is fully covered and huge. The best part is you have an aft view also. This is a great cabin.

Green4me Posted August 5, 2004 #13 Share Posted August 5, 2004 Don't let the skywalkers location scare you away from an aft balcony, it has no bearing on the ships movement. Enjoy
