sultan_sfo Posted April 10, 2007 #51 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Eventually, the credit card company will figure out that this is a way to get a cash advance without paying the fees! /Sultan
luvthis Posted April 11, 2007 Author #52 Share Posted April 11, 2007 Ugghh...although it will be nice if we have a little bit of cash left that we can use from our casino vouchures, we certainly are not looking for a "cash advance" against our credit card. We always take cash for incidentals. I just don't like to carry very much cash in my purse or in Bob's wallet. And, once again, I don't want to have to pay the fee to secure Traveler's Checks, even if it is nominal. Bottom line, even though I have paid for a credit to my shipboard account to cover my tours and tipping AND I have paid for gambling vouchures to avoid the 3% fees, I have already paid our credit card company for both of those expenses. This is NO advance in my mind. I haven't even received the statement of balance due from our credit card company. I pre-paid the darn credit card to avoid even having to see the balance due. The convenience and the peace of mind in knowing that almost all of our cruise expenses have been paid will make me much more at ease once we get on board. And like I said earlier, we don't have a credit card that offers points or free miles. Unlike most of the passengers that will be on our sailing, we will have a very small amount due on our shipboard account at the end of the 17 nights. --Jean
calisota Posted April 27, 2007 #53 Share Posted April 27, 2007 Can the casino vouchers be cashed for actual cash or can they only be used to buy chips from the tables and quarters for slots? I'd hate to see the look on the cashiers face if you asked for $25,000 in coins and it may not be possible to get that many chips off the tables and take them straight to the cashier without questions being asked.
