Triumph 21-28 review

Just got back from sailing the Truimph, April 21-28.

We had a wonderful time! Very smooth sailing, to me.....

We had VIP emparkment, so it went very smooth.

Got to the port around 11:30.The other lines were way too long.

The rooms weren't ready till 1:30 so we went up on deck 9 to have lunch.

We were upgraded to a cat. 11 suite.... Loved it! Our friends were in the suite

next to us so we had them open the balcony dividers so we had a 5' x 30' deck!

We spent a lot of time enjoying our balcony's!

Excursion desk was open at noon, so we booked our Cabana, for HMC

Best thing we ever did. We had the orange one, Cost $219.00 for 4 people.

They had our drinks, fruite plate with dip, salsa and dip waiting for us.

I have to say that the water at HMC was the was the best! Beautiful clear blue

water with the softest white sand I have ever seen! We were the only ship in port that

day so it wasn't too crowded. The BBQ was good.

Ship was clean and the service was great! We didn't go to many of the shows

because we were booked with the "doo-wop Group" We had our own private Doo-Wop

shows 3 of the nights. And the other nights we spent giving our money to the Casino!!!!!

The slots were the coldest machines I have every played on... I didn't see anyone wiin...

The tables games were full... Mostly the three card polka table and the black -Jack table.

People were winning at those tables!

We ate in the Paris Dinning Room, 8:30 seating. Food was good most nights. My favorite was the last night...

Escargo and Prime Rib.....Ummmmy!!!!

8:30 was great for us. No rushing....We even took naps in the afternoon..... Would do the 8:30 seating again.

I don't know about the other seatings but I didn't see many tux's and gowns on formal night.

Most men were in suits or jackets and the women wore dressy dresses. Something you would wear to a night wedding.

The other nights men were in button shirts and pants and women casual dresses, pants or capri's and tops.

I would say 40% went formal and 60% were dressed cocktail or just nice dresses and men in suits or jackest and pants.

I haver to go...grandkids are coming over!

I will write more later.

Maddie, I thought you looked familier. I think we sat next to you at dinner. We were the ones always taking pics of our food for our girlfriend at work. Eva and Andras right? I told you guys on the last nite that they were married. Small world. Anyway, it was a wonderful cruise wasn't it? See you're back to the real world....grandkids;) Can't wait to read the rest of your review.

Thanks for the review! We have considered doing the cabana in HMC (we sail the triumph this saturday, may 5th). sounds like it was worth the money!

I have a quesion about VIP check-in. did you recieve any other perks with your VIP status? We're VIP due to 10+ Carnival cruises and curious to hear about other's experiences with VIP on this ship. I've heard from several others, just curious to hear about your experience.

thanks!

We booked a tour in St Thomas, with Sunny Liston Tour.

He took us shopping for 2 hours, then took us on a tour up the mountain, stopped a few times to get some nice pictures. Didn't get any good pictures at the top because it was so foggy out. They have some nice gift shops up there and a bar/store.

If you want a party type tour you have to book Sunny Liston... He has music playing (loud) and gets everyone singing!

After the tour of the mountain, he takes you to a beach of you choice, for a couple of hours. He then comes back and takes you back to the ship. Our group had a great time with him. It cost $25.00 pp for the tour.

Grand Turk was small but nice. Margaretta Ville was right there when you get off the ship. They had music playing and people dancing. Nice big pool or they had a nice beach, all with-in walking distance of the ship. Beach chairs were free. Not as nice as HMC but still good if you like sunning at the beach.

We didn't do much in San Juan, walk around a little and did some shopping. Wear comfortable shoes. The cobble stone sidewalks are hard to walk on.

Our friend took a van tour ($15.00) 1 2/2 hours, they said it was great.

Over all, we really enjoyed the cruise and the stops. We met a lot of nice people on this cruise. Would go again, in a second!

We got the VIP check-in because we were in a suite. No other perks for us but I think you will get other perks but not sure what they are!

We had the orange Cabana, 3rd one from the right. The BBQ was about 2 min. from us. The bathrooms were about 100 yards away,. We loved this area, they set up the beer and soda cart right next to us. There was also a hammock to the left of us. It was nice having a table and chairs to eat our meal and get out of the sun, which can be real hot! You'll love it!

Also, you will be one of the first ones on the tender over to HMC. And once over there go to the shack on the left after you go through the arch and give them your ticket and they will tell you where to go to get the ride to your Cabana. Have Fun!

Maddie

PS Go to the shore desk and book right away when you get on the ship. They were open at noon when we were on last week.. These Cabana's go fast.
