Setting up excursions yourself?

We're doing Carnival Fantasy to Bahamas in October. Heard a lot about Blue Lagoon snorkel tour, Athlon snorkel trip, and Pirates Beach Party. Also heard everyone say it's less expensive to set these up on your own. How do you know who to contact to get there from the ship? Where to get taxi to get there once off the ship? And, how to set up getting back to the ship? Also, we'll have 3 well-behaved children, 12, 10 and 7 with us and just wondering if any of the aforementioned snorkeling trips are shallow enough for them to do it? Thanks for any tips!:)

The first thing you need to do is to get to the Bahamas Board under the Ports of Call section and see what everyone has to say. Post your question there becaues there are many who have already "been there, done that" who can give you pointers, suggestions, etc. You should have fun filled couple of hours reading the various posts...and finding that...uh oh...maybe there are a few other things you'd like to see that you hadn't thought of! :)
