Papeete airport transportation

I'll be boarding the Paul Gaugin in Papeete in less than two weeks. Since I did not book transportation through the cruiseline, what do you suggest for transportation from the airport to the pier? Le Truck? Taxi? Specifically where would these be located at the airport? Any idea how much a taxi would cost? Thanks for any help.

From the ship to the airport at 11:00pm end of April this year the taxi was 2,900 xpf.:)

I just asked the Customer Service Desk to book one for me. It was at the wharf at the appointed hour.:)

A cab is definitely the thing to do. It's not hard to find your way out front the cab stand, it's a small airport.

Thanks Wendy. I just got $100 changed into XFPs, so I'm good to catch a cab as soon as I clear customs. I know tipping isn't common in Tahiti, so do cab drivers expect tips?

Getting a taxi at the airport is easy. You will see them lined up as you exit. We paid 2000 XPF from the airport to the Hotel Tiare Tahiti which is across the highway from the pier. We paid in XPF because we had changed US dollars at the airport, but they would have taken US dollars too.
