I have pre-cruise reservations for the Hawthorne Suites, Ltd in Anchorage.

Does anyone have any information about this hotel, is it nice, how close it is to walk to downtown restaurants, etc. Thanks for any info that you can give me.

We stayed there for three nights after flying in to Anc. in May 2002. It was brand new then and very nice, right accross street from strip park, included breakfast and were pretty large. We did have to tape curtains shut to get darkness. We got a $75 rate for three nights (thru internet) but rates doubled on June 1st when we came back thru and we chose another place for difference in price.
As for walking, it is a few blocks from downtown and you might want cab. We had a car and didn't think about it. It is a couple of blocks off main drags.
