Train from Rome airport to Civitavecchia?

Recommended Posts

Briefly: you get the train from Fiumicino airport to Roma Termini, then another train from Roma to Civitavecchia. Cost for the first one will be about €10, cost for the second can vary but probably under €10. Civitavecchia station is a 10-minute walk to the entrance to the dock - from there you will have to use the (free) Port Authority bus to get to your ship.

At greater length: this has been discussed at huge length many times before. Do a search on the terms 'Civitavecchia Fiumicino' and you'll find loads of information. Also http://www.europeportreviews.com has something about this, and of course you need to look at http://www.trenitalia.com.

I've heard such a thing exists, but does anyone have information on it (ie. cost, where to catch it, how far it drops you off from the pier itself)? Thanks, guys!

Please do a search on this board as there is soooo much info re trains from the airport and Rome to the port..you will find answer's to any question you may have.

Use this link for the English Website of Italian Railways:

http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html

The correct origin is

AEROPORTO FIUMICINO

to

CIVITAVECCHIA

Otherwise the system will not display any results.

There you can see: there are also other transfer options possible than Roma Termini.

N.B. Regarding the suggestion of previous cruisers to search in this forum - you should know that this airport has a "first" and "last" name. Therefore you can also search: Leonardo da Vinci or FCO.

Someone posted not to rely on the trains (at 10 EUR), but the charges otherwise are pretty hefty. The best I've found is 100 EUR and that's way to much for me to pay. I will be taking the train from Rome to Civitavecchia. Then probably a taxi to the port entrance, then the free shuttle to the ship and schlepping our own luggage.

If they do strike, then we'd have no choice but to do the private limo or taxi, but as long as the trains are running, that what's I plan on doing.

Good Luck!

For those who need only to go from the airport to the city this could be two options by coach instead of train:
