All Things Enchantment of the Seas

Recommended Posts

My wife and I also got off the Enchantment today also. Our 1st cruise, and oh so great. Staying at Fort Laud. for the night before we fly home tomorrow.

Our waitstaff was wonderful! Ask for the waiter named Joe Marie from the Phillipines. He is so very attentive and friendly. I am hoping to post a review also in the near future but can hopefully answer any questions if anyone has some.

BTW, I and my team took 3rd place in the Quest. :D

We are leaving on 7/3! Have a great time, you are going to love RCCL!!

My parents have been on several cruise lines, I helped them plan it all and that was there one conditon, they wanted to stick with RCCL!! We are on the 4 night to Key West/Cozumel! What great parents we both have :D !

The kids and I are making a door sign for there cabin door and a small

photo scrap book to surprise them. I just went to the craft store today and bought a "Just Married" sign, we plan to turn it around and say "Married just 50 years with hearts and there names, ect"! There is a thread running here on door signs, I got some great ideas! My TA also said that we could have a cake sent to the table one night too!!

I will work on pictures when we get home..probably Wednesday as we are absolutely exhausted tonight and will fly all day tomorrow. If anyone has an extra day I highly recommend staying in FLL after your cruise. It was wonderful to relax and not have to rush to the airport..enough of that tomorrow! I can't imagine anyone not having a great time on the Enchantment! I have a good feeling you will love it! :) BTW when you book, be sure to mention who, when and what you are celebrating. They did a beautiful job with DD's birthday and we celebrated on formal night..excellent!

Laurie,

I'm also sailing on the enchantment in July. What day are you leaving? I'm leaving from Ft. Lauderdale on July 12. I haven't been on the EOS since the refurbishment, but the last time that I was on her in 2004, my favorite part of the boat was the Solarium. It's on the back of the pool deck and it is just absolutely relaxing to me. The pizza place was also back there the last time I went on her. However, I don't know if they have moved it with the refurbishment now. The Solarium is supposed to be for adults only.

Hi I am also traveling on that date. I have only sailed on Liberty of the Seas. I hope a smaller ship will not be disappointing. I couldn't afford the prices for Liberty this year. Are you on a roll call? Tina.

We just got off the Enchantment on Monday. It was our first cruise on RCI, previously on Disney Wonder. We had a JS this time and loved the balcony. She is an older ship and not as pristine as the Wonder but certainly beautiful and if you don't look too closely, it really doesn't matter. The staff was wonderful on EOS. Everybody is very friendly and eager to help. The food is good, not great but for the price of the cruise is fine. I was a little disappointed in the lack of variety on the menu at Chops. But I'm not a huge steak/beef eater so it really wasn't the place for me.

Food surprises: Salad served family style two nights. They just put the bowls in the middle of the table and walked away. Serve yourself and pass it on to your neighbor. It shocked the heck out of our Platinum member tablemates. They said they'd never seen that done before. It was okay but seemed a little odd in the dining room when you have three people waiting on your table. Too much spinach--and I love it. But it was the salad of the day, in the entrees. I heard that mentioned more than once. Terrific roast duck though. I highly recommend it.

Cabin Surprises: We were spoiled in our inside cabin on Disney with really nice toiletries--the works. Even though we had a JS, there was a shampoo dispenser on the wall (guess it was supposed to be combination shampoo/conditioner since they didn't have any separate conditioner) and plain bar soap. No lotions. I had read the toiletries weren't that great so I brought my own along anyway. The hair dryer was much better than I thought it would be from comments here. No problems for me getting my hair dry with it.

Entertainment: Don't miss the musical rock and roll show. They have a great female singer and the dancers are really good too.

Pool Deck: The Solarium is very pretty and less crowded but I couldn't stand the humid heat in there. Too bad there isn't any breeze there. On the sea day and port day, it's easy to get loungers but on the sea day it was way too crowded for us. We gave up and sat on our balcony in the shade for a while and took in a few on board activities.

CocoCay: Biggest disappointment to us. Everyone talked about what a beautiful island it was and I wasn't that impressed. The sand was brown, not pure white and not many flowers. When we cruised Disney their island was gorgeous with pure white sand, loads of flowering shrubs lining their roads and pathways. But they own their island and maybe that is the difference. But if you can lay out in the sun and enjoy the warmth, that's what's really important. The BBQ was good and we were lucky to have calm seas to tender back and forth to the ship.

I'll be happy to answer any other questions anybody has. I'm feeling the cruise withdrawal blues today. Back in the cold and snow of MN. But what a wonderful few days we had on the Enchantment of the Seas.

MN Woman, can you please tell me (if your itineary included Key West) where you docked? (Navy Base or downtown near Duval Street?)

We leave next week, have a regular Oceanview in the non-stretched part of the ship (it was on sale yesterday on a one day Promowave), and while I don't have high expectations after being on the Mariner 3x I am hoping for the best...

Any "must do" advice?

We are also on the Enchantment but not until the 31st...can't wait! We have sailed her before and the crew is great! As to Key West...you will dock downtown. Very easy to get around from there. Have fun and let us know how it was! :)

Does anyone where I can see the menus for the 5 night? Trying to figure out which night to go to chops? thanks

can't exactly remember which menus for which nights. but, i can tell you this......after 5 cruises......the menus don't change much. i.e. the menu for the first night of the cruise is always the same! we always run to chops the minute we board the boat and make res. for that night. the first night is always a bit drab and people at your table don't always show up. i'd go for night number one. lobster night was next to last, i believe. if you go to dining room on night number two, your waiter will tell you what the entrees will be for the week. but, i'd go to chops on day one, you won't miss anything.

I hope MN doesn't mind me going ahead and answering..we docked downtown near Duval Street (near the Westin). It's beautiful.

We just walked in the door at home after being "bumped" on our flight yesterday..it did equal 1200.00 Delta Dollars- so hey - had to go for it! We had many, many travelers in our hotel that were stranded trying to get to/thru Texas yesterday.

Anyway, that puts me very behind on getting pictures uploaded! I promise it's worth the wait.

No problem with you answering EMTRa. I'll bet that was a major mess traveling yesterday with all that rain.

I decided I must be allergic to MN--just found out I have bronchitis. I think I need another cruise!

In answer to the "must do" question earlier. If you like key lime pie, definitely have a piece from one of the Blonde Giraffe restaurants in Key West. I just went for the regular pie, not the frozen key lime pie on a stick that is chocolate coated. It was a nice break to sit on the bench in front of the store and watch people while eating the pie.

I can't say there is anything super special that I did but when all rolled together it was just a very relaxing and fun cruise.

I would suggest one thing though. Even if you think you won't get motion sickness, bring something like Bonine or Dramamine along. The seas were a bit rough the first night and I saw three different women frantically trying to find a place to buy motion sickness medicine. We had taken Bonine the night before and had no problem with the waves even while dining.

Smilingrl - How did you like Cozumel and Jamaica? I've read mixed reviews on Jamaica.

Grand Cayman was definitely our favorite of the two. I think we would have liked Jamaica much better if we had gone there first, but after GC, it was tough to measure up. Seriously, though, anywhere tropical was MUCH better than the weather at home.

(We're Terps fans, too, btw. Sadly this year.)

We went to Chops on Formal Night and it was great! Nobody there.

EMTRa,

Loved your pics!! Can't wait to show my kids the ones of the bungee tramps. We're sailing on May 3rd, different ports, but great to see the ship shots. Was your daughter on Spring Break? We're taking ours out of school so I hope there are a few kids to keep them company.

Looks like you had great weather and a great time!!
