eki Posted June 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2007 Hi, We are planning a cruise with our toddler on NCL Spirit - I was wondering, how dark can you get the balcony rooms? My son likes the room dark when he's sleeping, and wakes up at the first crack of light in the morning. Will we be able to get the room very dark. (Obviously, this would be a little easier in an inside room ;)) Thanks!!

It's like a hotel room with a large glass window and darkening curtains, but in this case it has a sliding glass door rather than the window. Dark, yes, but not as dark as an inside cabin. DoctorFeelgood Posted June 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2007 I have only ever stayed in balcony suites. From my experience, they have some pretty good room darkening curtains, but the room is still almost light enough to read a book by.

We had a balcony cabin and when I pulled the curtains, I couldn't see the hand in front of my face . . . and dawn arrived at about 3:00 AM and dusk was at about 10:30 PM. rebeccalouise Posted June 18, 2007 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2007 They have room darkening curtains and it is dark enough to nap. My son and I take naps everyday with no problem!
KarmaElectra Posted June 18, 2007 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2007 IMO, if you pull the curtains all the way over, it will be quite dark. When we went to sleep, we would keep the curtain open about 2-3 inches so we could see the light in the morning...otherwise we'd have no clue! Maryfrei Posted June 19, 2007 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2007 I agree, the darkening curtains work really well!
awatt Posted June 19, 2007 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2007 Room darkening curtains work relly well. I always use my big claw hair clip tp clip tehm together at night in teh middle to keep that little sliver of bright light from coming in in the morning.
