Solita,

My daughter and I are taking our Open water Diver Certification next week and will complete our 4 open water dives the following weekend.

What is the water temp in June and what type of wetsuit si needed for comfort?

There will be 4 of us doing a dive trip and although we will have dives many times in Texas, this will be our first West coast dive. Any suggestions?

We are doing PV, Cabo and Mazatlon. Any hint would be great.

Thanks.

Ray

The water in Cabo has been really cold lately, was down to 51°F at one point recently!!! Warming back up now, one report says 66°, but one dive shop we spoke to says 78°. Who knows. Normal is about 75.

You'll find more variety of marine life in Puerto Vallarta than Cabo, but Cabo has bluer water and nice sand falls. Mazatlan can be interesting when the visibility is there, but it's often poor visibility, which isn't good for newbies.

If you choose Puerto Vallarta, try the Marietas Islands. If you choose Cabo, Chileno Bay or Santa Maria Cove make nice first-timer dives. Cabo Pulmo is too far away for a cruise stop, unfortunately.

Hope this helps, have a great time!
