Bon Voyage Gifts

Has anyone purchased bon voyage gifts for anyone.

 

For example on Celebrity you can buy a 750 ml vodka, 6 cans of pop, and some nuts for $50 U.S.

 

How does this compare if you bought a bottle of vodka the first night, where you pay I think $15 extra, and can bring the bottle to your room.;)

I don't know how the price compares with just buying liquor onboard, but I often order a bottle of wine or champagne as a bon voyage gift for friends.

If your friends are not staying in a suite, a great bon voyage gift is a pair of the heavy weight Celebrity bathrobes. Then they can parade around the ship and everyone will think they're in a suite!;)

 

Just kidding. No one would EVER be caught dead in public wearing a bathrobe, would they?

 

Seriously--they make a great gift that can be used on the ship and when they return home!

We have - albeit mostly for ourselves. (Anniversary packages, etc.) - MY Mother-in-Law bought us a gift bottle of bubbly one time. Whether they're a good choice I leave up to you - if unsure, you can always just give an onboard credit (always the right size and color ;))

We ordered birthday decorations, cake and some casino chips on the Celebrity website for friends as a surprise recently on the Horizon to Bermuda. They called us from the ship in Philly before leaving. They just loved it! On return, they mentioned that Celebrity was very fastidious about them signing receipts.

I don't think X has the option of paying a fee and bringing the booze back to your room? Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I'm right. I know some lines do it, but not X. So if you want the 'gift' for yourself to drink onboard, you better get it from the bon voyage people!:D

So how does one tactfully hint to friends about sending bon voyage gifts, other than casually leaving the order form laying about???

Thanks for the replies.

 

We were on Navigator last, and they had that option. Maybe X does not have that option, and they will keep the liquor until the end of the cruise.

 

So maybe I had better order them a bottle, or else buy the bar gift certificates.:)
