Passport Requirements

My wife and I will be cruising in November out of Ft. Lauderdale. Are passports required this year or has it been pushed back to 1/1/2008? I have heard horror stories about passport delays and wanted to get the heads up on what is required for 2007.

There have been so many posts about passports, and the requirments have been changing, so you could possibly read an older post and get the wrong info. The above site is the official passport website, and will always have the latest info. Of course, take "processing times" with a grain of salt, as you've read on these boards :(

The above link is excellent. The first question is where is your FLL departing ship bound? It matters whether you are on a Caribbean return trip or a transatlantic crossing. One requires a passport, the other does not.

Passports are just a good idea to have all the time if you do any amount of out of country travel. Then you have it in case a good deal or need comes along on short notice.
