The map is $8 and it was great. We rented one of the VW bug cars from Alamo. Our first stop was Paradise Beach - stayed for a while, played in the water with the trampoline and kayaks, had food and drinks and then off to explore.

We went to the downtown shopping area and when we had enough we drove across the 9 mile road to the other side of the island. Parking was easy - all you had to do was be sure to park near a white curb. It took a few trips around the block to find a spot, but not bad.

Shopping on the 9 mile road was fun too and the other side of Cozumel was beautiful. We took the advice from the map and stopped in places highlighted in yellow. Coconuts bar - the highest peak, just beautiful. We also stopped at a pier along the way and would have stopped at more of the suggested spots but we ran out of time.

The car and map gave us a lot of freedom and we saw a lot more than we would have if we had to keep paying for taxis. Go for it and have a wonderful time.
