Salmon fishing mid-May

My friend has her heart set on salmon fishing mid-may. Are there any, and which port is best?

This time of year (mid-May timeframe), it will pretty much be only King Salmon running.

While King Salmon is the best eating as well as the best "fighting" salmon in my opinion, fishing for them can be slow and uneventful. Sometimes you will catch several of them in 4 hours, other times you can fish for 12 hours and not get a bite.

I'd highly recommend booking a charter. Someone who fishes for a living can greatly increase your chances of having a successful fishing day. Also, book early as a change in the laws in the last several years limits the number of people on a boat (I think only for King Salmon fishing, but I could be wrong).
