My family and I are looking into booking a 8 night cruise that stops in St Thomas (which I have been many times) and also Samana and Tortola. I have been to most of the islands in the Caribbean and I have never even heard of these islands before and was wondering are they poor islands, rich islands, or just very small islands that ships rarely goto? I will be going on the NCL Spirit. Any info will be great : )

I will follow this post with interest as I've just received a letter this morning from Carnival Corp telling me that our trip in January 2008 on the Sea Princess has dropped St Thomas from the itenary and calling into Sabana instead. I've never visited this part of the Dominican Republic so will follow this thread with interest.

Go to the Dominican Republic Ports of Call, and type in Samana. There is quite a bit of info there.

Also, for Tortola, go to the Tortola Ports of Call board.

You will get much more information on these ports.

We are going to both of these ports in Feb.
