travelling alone

I am the same age as your wife's aunt, I travel alone, and IMO the risks of a "bad share" is too great. I pay the supplement and cut the cost by using the lowest grade inside cabin.

She may also benefit from any specials that Cunard offer, either promotions in which they take something off the "early booking cost" or as they did last week, when for certain cruises in 2008, they removed the supplement for singles, I was fortunate enough to be able to be re fared and saved $1200 on the "promotional " price I had originally booked.

I had a really "good friend" we were going to share a cabin, fortunately before we booked, I found out that she got up at 5.30a.m with all the attendent "bustle" of showering, dressing , early morning cup of tea from room service etc. She also went to bed at 9p.m every night no matter what, lights out by 9.15p.m, so no reading in bed. Meals, she would want us to have a table for two. and we HAD to go on one particular ship on one particular line, and on particular itinerary.

I decided not to join her on the cruise, she went alone and I took another ship on another line , to another destination.

I hope your aunt decides wisely and enjoys her cruise.
