Another question about tours on the dock of Moorea!

Could someone who has gone before tell me whether there are shark and sting ray tours available on the Moorea dock all day long? I am hoping to be up late the night before dancing (it's my 30th anniversary day :D ) so don't want to think about having to get up early to do an 8:30 a.m. tour. If we tender in about 10 or 11:00 a.m. is there anything left? Is anything left any good?

Thanks in advance for your help! We sail in 5 days!!!!!

We are doing a post cruise on Moorea for 2.5 days and renting a car then so thought we should probably do something in the water this go-around. I guess I'll just have to get my lazy butt out of bed and catch one of the earlier tours. :D

Thanks for the feedback!

meherio,

Your post is very informative, but somewhat overwhelming with options.

Do these tours ... scuba | snorkeling ... need to be booked in advance or are they available "on the dock" where cruise ship tenders disembark passengers?

TIA

The excursion I prefer is the lagoonarium. Best price and most underwater life visible there.

You will need a car to drive from Papetoai to the Lagoonarium near the ferry dock.

Sorry for the overwhelming choices. ( better than no info isn't it?)

I'm having a problem hooking-up with a dive operator. Some of them provide transport, but ask where the ship anchors/tenders ... a reasonable question.

Apparently, ships can anchor in either Opunohu or Cooks Bay(s). We will be on the X Mercury, which is a larger (but not mega) ship with 1,800 or so passengers.

Does anyone know which bay a ship of this size would anchor/tender in?
