Antarctic from Ushuia

We have booked an "Expedition to Antarctica" with Gohagan and Co. on the M.S. Le Diamant, Feb. 1 to 16, 2008, about 200 passengers with 10 landings from Brown Bluffs to Petermann Island. I have read many of the posts on this board, and got a lot of good information. I wondered if any one has any more information on this ship, trip or a trip with this number of passengers, this area or in Feb.? :confused: I will also post questions about the ship on "Other Cruise lines".:)

I guess my only comment is that with that number of passengers, you'll be taking turns making landings - only 100 ppl allowed at one time.

 

Petermann Island was one of our favorite landings. Make sure you take time to walk up to the bluff on the opposite side - not only was that our southernmost point, but the views were fantastic. If you have an opportunity to cruise the grounded bergs in Pleneau Bay it will be a magical experience - especially if the weather is nice and the waters flat calm.

We did Antarctica on the Nordkapp w ~ 250 passengers. We did do 2 landings per day and even though we had to shuttle people back and forth from land, it worked well. You never felt rushed on land. It would obviously have been better w a <100 passenger but the cost difference was prohibitive.
