Cruise Lines and Cruise lengths

Recommended Posts

I love the fact that Royal Carribbean has a 5 day Western Met crusie (I have a hard time getting more than a week off work at a time, so flying in a day or 2 ahead then 5 day cruise is perfect). But, I cannot find any other cruiselines that have similar short cruises which go to Italy, France and Spain. I checked Carival, thinking I could find cheaper rates, but it looks like a 12 day is the shortest they have. Is that correct? Anyone know of other cruiselines that may have 5-7 day west met?

Don't go with Costa! We just returned from a cruise we had with them a few days ago. The service was lousy, and you will get burned by their itinerary - 1/2 the time spent at ports compared to the other ships, and on one day, 2 ports in a day! (mykonos and santorini) I will write more later in my official cruise review.

I am going on a 7 day Med Sea in 2 weeks on the NCL Gem. I leave for Barcelona from Boston on the night of Friday the 19th which gets in at 9am in Barcelona (after a connection at Heathrow), get on the cruise on Sunday the 21st, and it comes back on Sunday the 28th. I fly home that day and I am home Sunday afternoon.

My itinerary is

Embarkation: Barcelona, Spain

Day 1: Sea Day

Day 2: Messina, Italy (Taormina/Mt Etna)

Day 3: Rome, Italy

Day 4: Naples, Italy

Day 5: Livorno (Florence), Italy

Day 6: VILLEFRANCHE, FRANCE (Nice/Monte Carlo)

Disembarkation:Barcelona, Spain

I think when the Gem returns to the Med Sea next year, I think Messina is changed with somewhere else in Sicily.
