Enjoyed your post. It was a great cruise. My favorite port was Maui, and least favorite was Hilo.
Took lots of pictures and will have them on my web site shipboard.net soon.
Right now there is a photo of smoke from the fires seen from the Zaandam. We were 50 miles from Ensenada.

ps Should not have used my web site to show smoke image.

Hello Laurie,

I have been so busy since I've been home I need another vacation! Good thing for a couple holiday weekends coming up as I need it!
Nobby, you will love Alaska!! We spent 18 days there (land tour only) end of May to early June 2007. We flew to Anchorage, rented a car and had a wonderful time. We did make reservations for Ferrys and lodging. We planned this trip on and off for about a year, but well worth it. Check out Budget Queen's posts on the Alaska board. She has spent a lot of time in Alaska and has lots to share and we used many of her suggestions/recommendations. We are looking forward to our Hawaii Zaandam trip in March. Your postings have been fun to read and we can't wait to see your pictures! Laurie
18 days on land in Alaska must have been really nice. I can't wait for our trip. We are going to spend the time in the Inside Passage towns and BC for this trip which will be 3 weeks. I always read Budget Queens posts and even asked for some advice from her.

You will enjoy the Zaandam and the Hawaii trip. I want to do this cruise a few more times in my life. Pictures will be coming soon and thanks for all the comments.

Hello dlhays2,

Thank you so much for the information about Dr Joel Saper. I will email you in the next couple days to ask a little more about it. I went to the docs last week and my doc is going to do everything he knows and then he said if that doesn't work he'll send me to a specialist so I hope to get it under control soon as it can be terrible at times.

Glad I can help you with your trip planning and I am sure you will have a great time. I really loved this trip and can't wait to do it again. Pictures will be coming soon... I promise... Every chance I get I have been working with my photos... Sometimes I can get carried away with the processing.

Best,
Nobby

Hello Everyone... Photos are finally ready to be viewed for this trip. Sorry it took so long but with work and two weeks of not doing the chores it was tough to get the time to process the photos.

For thos who have read this thread from the start I thank you for taking the time to read it all. I also mentioned a lot about birds and I did get some great shots of birds but none of those photos I processed yet. When they do get processed they will be in my NEWEST PHOTOS gallery if you want to look back in a few weeks.

If you go to my website below in the featured galleries you will see MS Zaandam Circle Hawaii photo and just click on that and enjoy.

I'd love to hear what you all think and you can post here or email me any questions or comments. My email is in the description of the gallery.

Aloha!

Hello tootsiesmom,

Thanks for the comments...
Your pix were just beautiful !!!! You have been saying that you had to "work" on your pix.....what did you have to do??? They look great :D
When you shoot digital pictures as a jpg the camera does all the processing. What that means is it will adjust colors, contrast, sharpening, etc to an average that looks good. I shoot in RAW which is basically a unprocessed photo so I have to use programs like Photoshop CS3 to adjust all the contrast, color, sharpening, etc. Most shots are good as shot but in RAW I do still need to add sharpening and noise reduction or slight adjustments to all photos. Yes it is a pain and from now on when I am on vacation I may just shoot in jpg for most shots. When I go on photo shoots I will continue with RAW but I never take as many pictures on a photo shoot as I did on this vacation.

Thanks again for the comments and glad you liked them.

Hi NapTown Jim,

Hi nobbync,

I enjoyed your photos. They were a good diversion from a boring day at work. I hope to take that Hawaii cruise on our 5 yr. anniversery.

Glad you liked the photos. I was at work also and I always enjoy taking a quick break to look at cruise pictures. I hope you get to go on the Hawaii cruise on your anniversary. How much longer do you have to get to the 5 year?

Hello x lindsay x,

I really enjoyed your photos. The Lost pictures were great and I loved all the Zaandam shots as I was on the cruise right after yours.

I really enjoyed the tour by Ed Kos from KOS Tours as I am a big fan of Lost and enjoyed seeing everything. In a couple years if I am back in Hawaii I'd like to hire him for the day again to see all the new places.

I sure wish I was staying on when you got on. Hope you have as fond memories of your cruise as I do mine.

Thanks!

Nobby

You are right about the larger staterooms and especially the bath room. they have the largest and that can spoil you for when you find yourself onboard any of the other ships other than HAL

I sure wish I was going again as well but hope you have a great time. I really loved the room we had and I was worried there might be too much noise from below but I slept like a baby and didn't hear much other then the normal ships noises.

As for being spoiled by the rooms, I am already. I have been on a RCCL ship once and it was like a closet. I think I found a home with HAL..

Thanks!

Nobby

Thanks DesertDogs! I wish we weren't on the freeway when we saw the most beutiful rainbow on the way back from Pali lookout. Though I do like the Honolulu rainbow shot as well.

Thanks for posting your pictures Nobby! I love the rainbow in Honolulu! :)

If I had looked at your signature I'd have seen that. Well congratulations on your marriage and I hope you will enjoy many cruises together. Also those 4 years will go by fast. I first wanted to do this Hawaii cruise about 3 years ago and the time went by so fast.

Your Alaska cruise should be great as well and hope you enjoy! I was thinking the Amsterdam next year as well but we decided to drive there instead.

Take care,

Nobby

Hi Nobby,

I wanted to ask you about any special theme nights on Zaandam. I do know about the Black & White ball but was wondering if they have other special evenings such as country western night or hawaiian night or other themes?

Do they still teach special dances during the cruise such as line dancing or any other form of dance?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Shirley,

Sorry to take a few days to get back to you. I was away for the weekend.

There wasn't any other themed nights on our cruise in the dining room. I know there was a oldies party and a 70's Disco night on the Crows nest but that was about it. Our first night in Honolulu they had the Hawaiian barbecue on the lido deck.

I did see they had line dancing lessons and other dancing lessons but I did not go to any of those but I did see them listed.

I just received a message that boarding onto the Zaandam for the next cruise (Nov. 20) would be delayed until 3 pm because of the need to new a full scale cleanup due to an outbreak of Norwalk type disease. Do you have any info on this?
