zil Posted November 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2007 Scheduled to arrive 7 AM NY piers on a Sunday morning. What do you New Yorkers suggest for best way to Newark Airport?
RHefley228 Posted November 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2007 Cheapest: Take the airport bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal (bus now leaves from the rather gloomy 41st Street underpass between 8th & 9th Avenues--closer to 8th). Best: Just get in a taxi.
smeyer418 Posted November 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2007 Just a reminder a yellow cab from the New York Piers is required to take you to Newark airport. The Fare is meter plus $15.00 plus tolls and tip- the $15.00 surcharge is not the tip its to make up for them going back to NY City empty as they are not allowed to pick up in NJ(the NJ cabs aren't allowed to pick up in NYC either). Many times a car service is cheaper. Try either Carmel(which has a website with discount coupons) or Arecibo....
jerseyjk Posted November 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2007 Depends on what you consider "best". Depending on the pier, you could take the NY Waterway Ferry or the PATH to Hoboken and then hop a NJ Coastline train to the Newark Liberty Airport station (check the NJT schedule since it requires a change in Secaucus and not all trains stop at Newark Liberty station) and then hop the AIRTrain. Ferry is $6, NJT is $11 and AIRTrain is $5.50. Cheaper than a cab or car service but it'll add up with a large group. Not exactly the easiest way to go either, but it's a previously unmentioned option. Enjoy your trip.
zil Posted November 7, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted November 7, 2007 Many thanks for all the wonderful info about transfer to Newark..It appears the only way to go is by care service. I am now even considering going directly to Penn Station and prepare for a long(easy) ride home!
