Dengail Posted November 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2007 Anyone done this recently? We get into port so late, we want a quick ride up to the castle to see it and then walk back. 2 adults,2 kids. Thanks.
bethco Posted November 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2007 There is a set price that believe was $5. But our cab driver took us on a very long drive all around old San Juan trying to get a bigger tip. It took 20+ minutes for what should have 5 minutes or less. We weren't interested in a Mini-tour due to the late hour. So tell you driver to please take you the shortest route since the castle will be closing. I wish that we had known to do that. He took a lot of our time crossing the same streets over and over. One area of the castle was closed off before we had a chance to go there. They closed off the stairs down to the ocean first, so if you you're late getting in there and want to do those stairs down to the cannons near water level, go down there before you go to the top. cmason Posted November 11, 2007 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2007 Check your map...the San Cristóbal fort is very close to the port, and is similar to the El Morro. It is an easy walk there and back from the ship. Recommended if you arrive late into port...
