What to do in Sydney Nova Scotia

We are on the 9/25 Victory (under 3 wks now). I have found things to do in each port other than Sydney. Any suggestions? I will be traveling with kids (2 & 11) and my grandmother, so please keep that in mind. Is this one of those ports we can just stroll around in or should we plan on renting a car and heading somewhere else?
