What is there to do in Dominican Republic. I am on the Legend Jan 2008 and not sure if I want to go two days early to visit. Are there any good restaraunts or clubs. What would you suggest.

There are supposed to be a good number of excellent restaurants in Santo Domingo, especially in the Colonial Zone. I recommend getting a good travel guide about the Dominican Republic for suggestions of things to do and see. Travelling in January, it is probably worth it to get to Santo Domingo a day or two early just to avoid weather and other travel-related problems. We are going two days early before our February 10th cruise and booked the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino for less than $100 a night. Less than 45 days until we leave.:)

For two days..

Stay in the Colonial Zone in any of the small hotels around the Cathedral. From there you will actually see your cruise ship docking in and you can walk around the zone, saving your money for your trip.

You can see where Christopher Colon was buried, walk the streets "Calle de Las Damas" and enjoy the cafes on the Colon square. For Latinos, Santo Domingo tells the real tale of the Spanish conquest of the New World in short. ;)
