TURTLE BAY BEACH ACCESS

If all beaches are public in Oahu, what would be best access to beach at/near Turtle Bay Resort? Is this the best choice for a soft sand beach with calm waters on the North side or would we be better off going to one in Laie?

(We are driving from Waikiki to tour north side before going to PCC).

Turtle Bay's protected cove is a very good beach to take small kids for swimming on the North Shore. You can drive into the resort - there's a public beach access parking area inside the resort itself (can't remember whether it's before or after the guardhouse - the guard should be able to direct you). The parking area tends to get crowded though, just to warn you.

The beach access is after the guard house. You will have to pay for parking (even though the public beach access is "free". Stayed at the Hotel last year and the beach is well protected, for a north-shore beach. Enjoy!

Ray - well, technically, you could park for free along the main road outside of the resort and walk your way onto the beach ...

Certainly one could do that, but as I remember, it is about half a mile from the main road to the beach area. Also, I would not want to leave a rental car unattended on that area of the highway.

 

Another option would be to go to the Front Desk and ask them to stamp you parking ticket as "you were taking a tour of the hotel to possibly stay there". It's worth asking.......

OK, after guard shack, taking a tour, beg to stamp with mucho politeness, gotcha!

Not adverse to paying if it doesn't go our way, as we only have a couple hours to kill and it sounds worthy of our tourist dollars.

We were just there two weeks ago, and didn't pay for parking. When we got to the booth to leave, the attendent asked us if we were at the beach. When we said yes, she just waved us through.
