Hair straighteners

I am travelling from the UK to the US, i know there is a difference in the voltage of our electical appliances so... my question is will my straighteners (GHD, possibly the same as your CHI?) heat up the same as here, or do you think they may not be as hot??? anyone any idea?

My GHDs have a voltage switch so they were fine. Not sure what will happen if you can't switch. I suppose they won't get so hot.
