San Juan..Rain Forest excursion and then fly out..

Greetings..

We are booked on the Serenade of the Seas and it seems the flights leaving are latter in the day, so we found an excursion that goes to the rainforest and ends at the airport. I thought it would be wise to use the valet luggage and send the big piece of luggage on to Delta and then just have our carry on, so we can just go thru security and on the plane.

For those of you that have done this excursion, how does this sound and what time did you get to the airport?

I've heard that all flights leaving are fully booked so we don't want to be late.

Thanks..

Roy

we did that last sunday 2-24 off the adventure the tour is 36 per person. met in the imperial lounge at 745 am sat for 30 min then taken off ship at 815am went to the big holding area where all the bags were stored found our luggage and took it out to curb and loaded them into a cube truck. Truck took bags to airport. we then got on the tour bus ( there were three busses full) and went on tour(our bus 17 driven by jose) about 1hour to get there stopped for 10 min for bathroom break and food purchases at some place along the way other busses stopped too. Went to rain forest stopped at three places-walked a path for 30 min and bus picked us up down hill a little way and then we stopped at a tower and climbed that and climbed the rocks at the water fall. It was pretty nice there. The bus then dropped us off at the airport at 1pm our bags were stored together outside the american airlines terminal. We claimed our bags walked up to USAIR(a little hike) but no big deal and checked in process took 30 min then went to the Buffalo Wings Restuarant for lunch and sat and waited for our 600 pm flight to CLT which was on time. Leave your ship bag tags on till you get home if you leave them on RCCL will do the USDA screening at SJU airport for you otherwise you have to wait in another line this USDA not TSA so its an extra screening looking for plants and food. hope this helps you it was a pretty gooD process BTW for 20 per person you can check in for your flight and tender your bags at the pier eliminating the process at the airport we did not do this but will consider next trip eliminates the airport lines and dragging the bags around. the airline ticket counters are at the pier where you claim your bags when you come off the ship

Flerbrp told you everything you need to know about the tour.

I just want to reinforce the "Valet Luggage" option. Definitely do that. You still have to retrieve your luggage in the terminal, but then you drop it off at the Valet luggage station located near the exit. I did this recently disembarking Crown Princess. You bypass the baggage check process. You won't see the luggage until you arrive at your home airport. It's a great system.

An added bonus: The Princess "valet" service (Princess calls it EASYCHECK) also provides your airline boarding pass so you can go directly thru security. I'd guess RCI does the same?

RCCL does the same thing for 20 per person for 2 bags you check your bags to home airport and get boarding pass for flights right at pier as you leave ship avoids all lines at airport except security which for us last week moved fast 10 min at most

==We did the on board booking with American airlines,it was nice and easy,we received our boarding pass in our room on the last night. In the morning when we got off of the ship after we found our bags we walked thru coustoms and to the right to the AA stand and left our bags,we had made arrangement with the hotel where we stayed befor the cruise to return to sit around the pool as our flight was at 645.We left the hotel about 2 and grabbed a cab to the airport.

When we got to the airport we also went to Buffalo wings for a bite to eat,was better then the food in the airport. Then after we went to the casino in the airport and won.

We were on the Seranade and the ship was great.==============================================================================================================================================================================================================================
