Taking the Grandkids this time to Nassau: I am looking for maps of beaches, bus routes/schedules for Sunday.....does anyone have web sites? Map of beaches that we can snorkel? We really don't want to go to the island & casino......this time it's a kid trip.........their first time cruising.

Sorry, but there are no printed bus routes or schedules. Jitneys are independent.. so the generally work from 6am - around 6pm. Sundays will be the same. During the week.. they run every few minutes.. some one right after the other. On weekend.. they are about 5-7 minutes apart.

The one you want is the #10.. it goes from downtown Nassau to Cable Beach and back again along Bay street. there is no jitney to Atlantis or paradise island. They are not allowed on the island.

I suggest you take the jitney to the Wyndham at Cable Beach.. pay the $15 entry fee and relax. There's a couple of pools/ a slide, a lagoon and plenty of beach to keep them entertained.

There is no significant snorkling from shore. They may find a few grunts or snappers near the rocks.. but this is not reef snorkeling. (you need a boat trip for good snorkeling). Bring their own masks and snorkels. Not worth the rental fees from the hotel.

There are several maps online.. check out www.bahamasgp.com - they list a few helpful maps.

The other option for a beach is on Paradise Isalnd (you'llneed a cab).. Cabbage Beach is a public beach with rougher water..It's free, but there are no amenities.. no restrooms, showers, lifeguards, or dining options. Some locals sell rum drinks from a folding table and you can rent a chair for about $20 for the day.
