best line/best season

Hi,

I would appreciate your thoughts on the best line for a Panama Canal Cruise and the best time of year. I would like to go completely through the Canal--not turn around half way.

Is it possible to avoid REALLY HOT temperatures.

Thank you!

In general you will find that most complete transits occur April/May, east to west and Oct/Nov, west to east. This is not to say that it is impossible to find complete canal cruises other times of the year, just that this is the time frame when you have the greatest choices. The most popular lines and the ones that have the most cruises are: Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Holland America and Princess.

As far as avoiding heat, that's a tough one. There are so many different ports on such a cruise there is bound to be some pretty wam ones considering you are from the UP:D. Being warm at the Canal should not be too bad since you will be on the ship where you can find shade and a breeze. There are also air conditioned areas where you can take in the view.

Happy planning and cruising!
