rjf32 Posted March 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Will be going on a 4-day cruise in May and have reserved an Inside Cabin on the Monarch of the seas (because of cost constraints). I was wondering what rooms we should try for? Towards the front of the ship or the back? Higher or lower in the ship? Also, are there any areas we want to avoid (because of noise etc.)? cb at sea Posted March 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2008 Get one midships, and try to get your cabin on a deck near where you'll be spending most of your time--it'll make life easier if you don't need to use elevators all the time! (If you like the pool, get a cabin on a higher deck)! Of course, the lower in the ship you are, the cheaper the cabin, and the less possible motion you'll feel. Happy ks Posted March 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2008 We've had an inside on Monarch before and they are small, small, small. Pack light :) These cabins are really perfect for one person at a time, when we get ready, one person has to sit down for the other to have space to get dressed. If there is any way possible to bump yourself up to an ocean view, Cat I on Deck 8 is about $20-30 more per person than the lowest priced inside cabin and well worth the cost. Three square feet doesn't sound like a lot, but it's all storage - a larger closet and more drawer space. That and a window does make a difference. I prefer a cabin higher on the ship to lower, but it's all personal preference, I just felt like we were in a dungeon when we were on deck 2. I really like deck 4 or 8 the best and I prefer mid to aft, don't go forward if you can help it. Whatever your final choice is have a great time on Monarch, it's a wonderful ship and the best crew around.
