tcha Posted April 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2008 Just a heads up if you go to St Kitts and visit Banana Beach, there is a darling 1000 pound boar who lives on the beach. I guess the bar people take care of him.His name is Wilber. I teach 4th and 5th grade language arts and thought it would be great to have my picture taken with "Wilber " (Charlotte"s Web) Well all these people were petting him and he was very friendly. But when my daughter was feeding him an orange, he began rooting around(as pigs do) and I got in his way. His tusk hit my shin and made a very deep cut. It bled all the way back to the ship. If you have small kids please be careful. I had spent time at Lion's Rock down the beach ($2 beers) so I did not feel much pain but an animal bite in a foreign country isn't a very good thing. ruskatab Posted April 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2008 Thanks for the warning. I have seen other animals in ports like Oprah the donkey and the small monkeys in Cozumel that they let you take photos with. But I am also leary of these animals and would hate to get bit especially knowing most of them have never had any kind of shots. I also dont pet stray dogs and cats. tcha Posted April 2, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted April 2, 2008 My husband is a physician and he spent the day searching for experts for guidance concerning my injury. He did receive word from a Doc in Switzerland that the pig would not carry rabies . He was ready to order the shots for me.
