Question about Promenade Staterooms and Decks

Recommended Posts

Some photos show that there are walkways and stairs on deck 6 that cross the Promenade. Are there any croosovers on the higher decks? Also is there a stairway to the Casino on the Promenade? Are there any particular cabins that are better for convenience and viewing on deck 6 or 7.

Thanks,

Carole......................too many choices!!!

I think it depends on what ship you're on... we were on the Mariner in 2005 and there were stairs and a cross walk on the 6th deck, but they were off limits to anyone but the staff/captain during the parades and such. It's not an actual stairway that connects the floor, like I think you're asking. There is a stairway near one of the bars that will lead down to the casino though.

The stairway that you see is just as the second poster informed you about, only for crew. It accesses the back of the house areas and comes from the starboard side and then down on the port side. This is the only stairs that are in the middle of the promenade that could cause an obstructed view.

The stairs to the casino are on deck 5 are basically midship on any Voyager/Freedom class ship.

As for the better view, that depends on what you are looking for. For our first cruise on Explorer and a few after that, we were on deck 7, exactly midship. It overlooks Sports Bar/Vintages (depends on which ship). Then of course you could have a cabin down overlooking the Cafe Promenade. Interesting for people watching. There is no more noise on deck 6 than there was on deck 7. I do recommend that you do not book a cabin at the end of the promenade rooms (last two cabins on either end). These views in my opinion are rather poor.
