henny Posted April 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2008 We are in the initial stages of planning an Alaska cruise for next summer. It would be for ages 7-66. We have all been on a Carnival cruise before so would consider that for the repeat cruiser special price but totally open to others if they are better. My parents have never been to Alaska before. We, me, DH and DS (then 18 mths) did land only trip several years ago. At this point thinking the one way cruise with land added on, but that too is very preliminary. Any advice as to these initial decisions would be greatly appreciated.
CStorm Posted April 22, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2008 Don't worry about the cruise line until you pick ports, IMHO. Decide where you want to start, where you want to end and what you want to see. If you want Glacier Bay and Skagway, no Celebrity. Look at port times. We went on X in 2006 b/c we wanted a roundtrip out of Vancouver and liked the times in ports. This time we wanted a southbound one way that included Glacier Bay and Skagway so we are going with Princess. Princess and HAL are supposedly known for Alaska if that helps. Good Luck and Happy Planning!
gazingm42 Posted April 23, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2008 We have been on Carnival Spirit to Alaska Northbound. We are doing it again this summer. We been happy with CCL service and ports. But look at the ports she goes to and see if the spirit fits you needs. If not look at a ship which services the ports on your MUST list that it is your budget.
