Snorkeling Spots in Play Del Carmen

We'll be going to Playa Del Carmen off the Holiday in a month with a group that includes kids to beginning snorkelers to experienced ones.

 

Does anybody have any suggestions for a good location on the beach along 5th Avenue - perhaps near a Resort Hotel / bars etc. - where there is good snorkeling without having to swim out too far ? We will bring our own equipment.

No really good snorkeling off beach at Playa. The reef is too far out. Need to go to Puerto Morales or Akumal area for great beach snorkeling. You can get on a snorkel boat at Playa and it will be a relatively short boat ride to excellent snorkeling. I dove with Dive Mike in Playa and noticed they also did snorkel trips.
