Visiting the Fort---3PM Arrival

We will be arriving on the Carnival Miracle in OSJ on July 15 at 3PM. From what I can tell, the fort closes at 5PM. Is there any chance of actually getting a little time exploring the fort if we hop in a taxi and get there as soon as we can? Has anyone tried this?

Sure, you can get a taxi, or walk quickly up there, and you will have at least an hour to explore. Buy the 2 fort pass, then head down to San Cristobal Fort. Tuesday nights, you can explore that fort until 6pm, the watch the free dance/music show right there.

Head to El Morro and check it out, then if you want to see the local music and dance show check out San Cristobel.

 

Even if you did not make it in time to see inside the fort. El Morro still is impressive at night.

We made it with plenty of time to spare! We spent about an hour at El Morro and then walked back through OSJ. It is utterly amazing.

 

It felt as hot as the surface of the sun itself... LOL

We arrived earlier this week at 3:30 and had time to walk to San Cristobal for an hour self tour at $3 a person, then caught the FREE SHUTTLE to El Morro, which closes at 6pm. The free shuttle stops at 6pm (or 5:45 in our case, causing us to miss it).

 

We walked back into San Juan and saw a few more things to take photos of, so I recommend the walk. It is literally 1 mile between the two forts with Old San Juan in between, so this is easy.
